Made For: Björk
In 2019, Varma was commissioned to create a museum-scale wool installation for Björk's landmark exhibition. The result was a breathtaking piece — a full musical score woven in Icelandic wool, displayed in a gallery with surround sound, where visitors could hear the music while standing inside the textile itself.
This project pushed the boundaries of what wool can be. It was not a product. It was a statement — that Icelandic wool, in the right hands, is a medium for art.
