Saga Rammagerðarinnar
The Story of Rammagerðin
Rammagerðin was founded in 1926 with one goal: to transform Iceland's unique wool into products worthy of the island's natural beauty. Nearly a century later, that goal remains unchanged.
A Century of Craftsmanship
Our factory in Garðabær has been the heart of Icelandic wool production for generations. The machinery has evolved, the designs have become more intricate, but the fundamental commitment to quality and craftsmanship has never wavered.
Icelandic sheep—descended from animals brought by Norse settlers over 1,100 years ago—produce wool that is unique in the world. It is naturally water-repellent, incredibly warm, and boasts a distinct dual-fiber structure that gives it both insulating and moisture-wicking properties.
From Iceland to the World
What began as a local producer supplying Icelandic homes has evolved into an internationally recognized brand. Varma products are enjoyed in over 40 countries, and our custom productions have been commissioned by some of the world's most renowned artists, hotels, and organizations.
